All this without proof that CO2 emissions cause Global Warming?

Most sensible people still can't get their heads around the "connection" between CO2 and global warming.

We don't have to look very far to read in history of the mediaeval warm period, the little ice age in the 15th - 17th centurys, the fear there was going to be another iceage in the 70's all of which were very unlikely to do with human CO2 emissions.

So we have to ask the question, "What is the real reason why we have to ruin our economys, sacrifice our standard of living in order to satisfy this craziness over carbon emissions while our planet is dying from pollution of a more direct sort such as heavy metal contaminations, industrial pollution of our oceans and water ways etc non of which will be addressed by any carbon trading scheme.
