The Pilot Program on GHG Emissions Reduction is an industry initiative led by the World Energy Council to record, in an electronic database, the projects in which the global energy industry is involved and the reductions in greenhouse gas emissions they are expected to achieve.

Launched in 1999, the database contains information on greenhouse gas abatement activities in three categories: past and ongoing projects, potential or planned projects, and top-down initiatives (defined as "initiatives that influence the behavior and choices of millions of people). Most of the projects are related to electricity generation, but the program welcomes the inclusion of projects related to all energy forms -- including renewables -- as well as GHG offsets and energy-efficiency improvements achieved by governments, companies, and consumers. The Pilot Program relies on guidelines set by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for calculating GHG emissions reductions.

Users be aware: The program does not take responsibility for verification of reported data, and updating project information is the responsibility of the reporting party. Project details should include contact information.

Also note: The database requires Internet Explorer 4 or later; it does not support Netscape.
